If you are interested in my culture, I welcome you. But you don’t get to take it. You don’t get to use it as your plaything. It is not your toy. You are the one who is not entitled to anything here. If I am entitled, that is because it is mine. This is my family. These are our people. This is our culture. Our way of honoring the dead.

except minus the part about purging other races for the sake of some fucked up ideas about white racial purity, the mass genocide of gays/jews/the disabled/gypsies, and Hitler - yes, asking people to not wear Calavera skull makeup on Halloween because it’s not part of Halloween, and is disrespectful and it’s not up for “adaption” by white people for their own shits and giggles…

Read about the different point of views of Mexicans about La Malinche. And realize how things are much more complicated than they are in your little black and white isolationist universe.
From what I’ve seen, this whole mess it’s not made by mexicans, but for american-mexicans who are willing to ignore their “american” heritage in order to act like some super nationalist mexican people (which is understandable since american culture is sometimes exclusive and it’s mainly composed of the traditions of anglosaxon people), somehow, those people who are the one who invented the mixture of spanish and english, are mexican enough to defend some tradition they don’t even know or have seen how it’s made in Mexico (news for you, people upside Rio Bravo, the processions made in USA ARE NOT THE BONA FIDE VERSION OF THIS TRADITIONS, they are copied from the original rituals in Mexico and made from the people who want to COPY them to show it to other people, this is why this whole “STOP STEALING MY CULTURE” is a bunch of crap, people who’re born in a mixed culture are whinning because some part of their heritage is being used by the other part, they are willing to forget they are also americans (since you know, US Constitution says everyone born in american soils is a citizen of their country) just to exclude and judge people in their own private club of a nation they don’t even live.
